How to Draw a Turtle
Turtles are super cool and fun to draw! They have strong shells, cute little feet, and gentle faces that make them one of the most lovable animals. Ready to draw your very own turtle? Grab your pencils, and let’s get started!
Easy Turtle Drawing for Kids
Step 1: Draw the Turtle’s Shell
Let’s start with the most important part of the turtle—its shell! In the middle of your paper, draw a big oval shape.
This will be the main body of your turtle.
Make it nice and round, or stretch it out a little to make a long shell. Turtles have all kinds of shell shapes, so have fun with it!

Step 2: Add an Inner Oval for More Detail
Now, let’s add some detail to the shell! Inside the big oval, draw another slightly smaller oval that follows the shape of the first one.
This creates the base of the turtle’s shell and helps give it a more 3D look.
This smaller oval will act like the shell’s outer edge, making it look even more realistic!

Step 3: Create a Pattern on the Shell
Turtle shells aren’t just smooth—they have unique patterns made up of different shapes!
To make your turtle’s shell look real, draw a pattern of hexagons and pentagons inside the inner oval. These shapes are like little puzzle pieces that fit together.
You don’t have to be perfect—just try to make a few fun shapes! This step will give your turtle a cool, textured shell.

Step 4: Draw the Turtle’s Head
Now, let’s give our turtle a cute face! At the front of the shell, draw a small, rounded shape that looks like an oval or a tiny bean.
This will be the turtle’s head.
You can make it bigger or smaller depending on how you want your turtle to look.
A bigger head will make it look cute and cartoonish, while a smaller head will look more realistic!

Step 5: Add the Front Legs
Turtles have strong legs to help them move on land and swim in water!
On each side of the shell, draw two rounded legs with webbed feet at the bottom. These should be slightly curved to make them look natural.
Think of them like little flippers or tiny paddles! If you want, you can even add small lines on the feet to make them look extra detailed.

Step 6: Add the Back Legs
Now it’s time to draw the back legs! These legs are a little smaller than the front ones, so draw two slightly shorter, rounded shapes near the bottom of the shell.
This will make your turtle look balanced and more natural.
Turtles use these legs to push themselves forward when they walk or swim!

Step 7: Give Your Turtle a Face!
Your turtle is almost done, but it needs some adorable eyes! Draw two small ovals on the head for the eyes.
You can add tiny circles inside each oval to make the eyes shine.
If you want, you can also give your turtle a tiny smile by drawing a little curved line below the eyes.
This will make your turtle look super friendly and cute!

Woohoo! You’ve just drawn an amazing turtle! Now that your turtle is complete, you can add even more fun details.
Maybe draw some bubbles around it if it’s swimming, or add a little rock for it to sit on. You can even color it in with shades of green, brown, or any fun colors you like.
You’re officially part of the Turtle Team now—great job! Keep practicing, and soon you’ll be drawing all kinds of awesome turtles like a pro!
